October

In late October Southern California experienced one of the more, if not the most, destructive fire seasons ever. Every county seemed to be battling one or more fires. In Orange county the fire fighters focused on the Santiago fire, so named due to the fact that it started in the city of Orange's Santiago Canyon. This one was said to have been started by an arsonist.
After the hot Santa Ana winds fueling these fires finally died down the fires eventually died too. Unfortunately the Santiago fire did consume homes, then continued to burn up into the hills where the only way to approach was by helicopter.
Santiago is East of Chapman so is a part of the landscape on my drive to work.
The fire had pretty much dwindled out by October 29th, but I'd gotten an early start so shot a couple of photographs on my way in and perched myself on Chapman Law School's parking structure roof for a few more upon my arrival. The smoke was nearly undetectable in the views to the South but fairly noticeable otherwise.
