A V-Day Play: March 1st, 2008

V-Day is an anti-violence against women movement created by Eve Ensler, author of the play entitled "The Virginia Dialogues". (Sorry, the name had to be changed to protect the innocent. I don't want parents to have to screen their youngsters from my blog....not that there's anything a child would want to read here---If you don't know the real name of the play, and you haven't figured it out after looking at the set photos, check Wikipedia for Eve Ensler's works. One of the points made in this play is not to avoid the term....'hope that doesn't mean I'm a slow learner.) Don and I went to the Saturday night performance of this play performed in Chapman University's Irvine Room, where we met up with friends; Ja'Nean Palacios, Tanya Cao, & Cathy and Dennis Elliott. We were all there to see our friend and co-worker Akiko Katagiri perform her "My Virginia was my Villiage" (again, slightly altered) monologue, in which we all agreed that she was amazing.
I didn't want to interupt or distract from the play with flashes of light, so I'm afraid I only have one photo of the cast and it was taken at the end....and our friend Akiko blends in too much to try to point her out, but you can watch for her to be in future plays because she's got the enthusiasm and talent to be a star, coveted by many a director.

The word "dare" was silent in the suggestion I pose here, but I heard it. (Smile)

It turned out to be a full house.
