September 6th, 2007, The Pacific Club

Fall 2007 at Chapman University School of Law has opened, starring a great team of visiting professors with impressive backgrounds. (See http://www.chapman.edu/law/faculty/visiting.asp for brief bios.) Welcoming these educators, as well as those who arrived last year from far off lands, was a team of Chapman University and Chapman Law School Administrators, Trustees, faculty, and staff, on Sept. 6th, at the comfortably elegant Pacific Club in Newport Beach. (4110 MacArthur St. http://pacificclub.org/ )
The lake and fountain that grace the exterior of the Pacific Club.

The Pacific Club is on our right here.

Well, if that pesky Willow tree wasn't blocking your view, you'd see the Pacific Club directly in front of you.

There it is!

These guys came looking for a handout.

Once they established I'd come as a pauper, they pretended they'd never intended to approach me and changed direction.

But the male couldn't resist a drive-by to show off his plumage.

OK, enough with the ducks. We want to see the Pacific Club.

This is the West side of the building where the entrance is.

The reception had begun at 5:00 and I couldn't get away from work until 5:15...then I'd spent that time photographing the lake, so I was feeling a bit rushed and didn't photograph the main hallway which our reception room was at the end of. It was wider than the one you see here and it was tiled. This hall intersects the main hall.

Upon receiving my name badge at the door, I made a bee-line for my co-workers. They are so attractive I'm hoping they won't mind my posting this here.

Our reception room was so expansive that it was quite a distance from me to the podium, unless I wanted to step in front of on-lookers, which I did not, so my flash kept exposing for the backs of people right in front of me leaving poor President Doti and the honorees in the dark. So I'm not going to show you anymore podium shots.

I believe we are listening to Dean Eastman now.

Black shoes are a must at these affairs.

Since these are a bit grainy I'll make this the last, and again I'm hoping these attractive people won't mind being posted on my little blog. This is Dean Timothy Canova on the right, Tom Voegel (I hope I spelled that correctly), a recent Chapman Law School graduate--and I believe the lovely lady beside him is his wife.

OK, I confess. It doesn't take much to entertain me. I really loved the black and white ladies lounge and just had to share!

Yep, we're still in the lounge.

This is the oh so inviting library that is just South of the Reception desk near the entrance.

Still the library.

And yet another cozy corner of the library.

Oh, and here's my ride. Gotta go now. Take care.
