A few shots

The rain transforms scenes into new visions, so I felt compelled this week to photograph the fleeting moments of temporary transformation.

2010-01-22 Rainy days at Chapman

My goodness! What a wet weak we've had. Well, the news has been saying that Friday would probably see the end the storms, and appropriately enough; I caught this hanging around my office window just before quitting time on Friday so ran out to the balcony for a clearer shot (too many raindrops on my window.) It was a complete arch. My smaller camera was able to catch the idea of it being complete, but the shot with the larger camera and longer lens was able to catch the brilliance of it better.

Chapman and vacinity in January

It's amazing what you can discover when your routine is broken.
Normally I park in the parking structure behind the law school when I get to work but over the holidays, apparently on New Years Eve, a few security carts exploded or were somehow set afire in that structure, rendering it unusable while under repair. So for the past week I have been parking in the parking structure known as the "Lastinger" parking structure on the other side of Glassell. This means instead of entering from the West side of the building, I'm entering from the East...and my path to and fro takes me across the Attallah Piazza....and when I leave, it's easier to turn right (East) so my path through Orange is slightly different.
And that's why I've started employing my camera along this altered path. It helps that the sun is rising shortly before I arrive and setting about when I leave...and that it's been raining.

So this is the "Leatherby Library" across from the fountain in the "Attallah Piazza".

And this is the Argyros building that houses the business school and the cafeteria among other things.

And this is the Law School.

And several blocks down the street, this is "JP's Abbey", a restaurant.

One more. This is "Summerhill Ltd.", an antique shop.
